AUSTRALIAN BRUSH CHERRY

EUGENIA NEOMYRTIFOLIA. Family: MYRTACEAE Other names include Lilly PillyBrush cherry

Australian Brush Cherry (3).jpg

This ultra-rare Eugenia fruit tree produces small (~2cm diameter) dark purple fruits that resemble miniature grumichamas. Fruits are fleshy and sweet—enjoy them raw out-of-hand or try juicing or making jelly.

Eugenia neomyrtifolia is native to Brazil, often found in rocky outcrops. This fruiting shrub is drought-tolerant and requests a very well-draining soil medium.

This shrubby fruit tree reaches no more than 6ft tall, so it’s an ideal choice for collectors, patio gardeners, and those with limited space in their food forest.

Not much is known about this fruit but as we learn more we will update our description.
